Back-To-School Help with Professional Organizers

Preparing for a new school year is not always as easy as 1, 2, 3!  Getting ready to go back to school in the fall takes a lot of planning and organization!  Success during the school year often depends on how well students (and parents) organize time, schoolwork, activities, chores and hobbies.

Have you ever considered working with a professional organizer to get ready to go back to school?  Maybe you think of an academic tutor as a professional who assists students with science or math… but, that is just a part of the picture when it comes to building study skills.  In a recent ABC News and New York Times article, Kathy Jenkins gives study tips and tools for a successful student and how professional organizers can be a vital part of that process!  Are you still wondering how a professional organizer fits into your child’s academic success?  Here are a few suggestions Kathy mentioned:

Academic Tutors and Professional Organizers help students build a portable storage system at home to help your child to grow the skills needed for a healthy educational experience. This system or “launching pad” can be a bench or box by the front door or bedroom door that holds everything that goes in and out of the house like library books, backpacks, cell phone, and soccer cleats.

Although organizing systems vary with the individual’s learning style, here are a couple examples of what a Professional Organizer would incorporate into a household “launching pad” to allow your child to manage stuff and study in preparing your child for a successful school year:

  1.  USE VERITCAL, CLEAR-PLASTIC ENVELOPES to hold textbooks, notebooks and papers so that nothing is forgotten.  They are convenient to pull out of backpacks or lockers and can be color-coded
  2. USE A TIMER OR WATCH for time management
