Spending Time Organizing Today = Save Time Later

Spending Time Organizing Today = Save Time Later

Time is one of our most precious resources.  Everything we do requires time…. work, play, sleep, vacation, family time, me-time.  We cannot turn the clock back or stop it.  So, how do we organize our lives so we can “save” time?  The only way we can create more time for ourselves is by managing the time we have been given, 24-7.  Here are three tips for getting your time organized:

  1. PRIORITIZE YOUR SCHEDULE

Make it a point to prioritize and organize your time.  Be careful not to jump in with both feet at the same time, focus on one gentle change at a time.  Determine what is most important to you, what you love doing.  Are you spending the time you have doing the things you love like hobbies, relaxing with family, going out with your friends and traveling are all things worth the time and all of them are important!

How do you prioritize everything you love (and everything you have to do)?  Here are a couple of suggestions to make each day sane and productive!

  1. MAINTAIN YOUR HOME

Most of us do not have self-cleaning homes.  Dirty dishes and piles of laundry are always waiting for us.  Finding some time-saving tips that work for you will help create more time for you and your family… not your home.  Here are a couple time-saving tips from Real Simple:

Keep “in use” cups handy for family members

Create a special spot on your kitchen counter for everyone to keep a cup filled and refillable all day.  This will cut down on washing and clutter.

     Presort laundry

Washing and drying laundry is only half of the battle when it comes to household clutter.  But, if you make it a point to wash everyone’s clothes in separate loads, folding and putting away becomes a much less time-consuming task!

     Don’t do everything yourself

Get your family involved… many hands make light work.  Give everyone a daily duty like meal planner, cook, list maker, mail man, trash collector, etc.

  1. CREATE HEALTHY HABITS

Although changing habits takes time, spending time on healthier habits like spending time with your children contributes to a healthier sense of being and value of time.

To create a healthy lifestyle, get real with your feelings, what you care about and what you love spending your time doing.  Creating habits to focus on those things will bring you time worth spending and everything else will begin to fall into place too!
