Beating the Hustle & Bustle out of Christmas Chaos

Beating the Hustle & Bustle out of Christmas Chaos

The most important thing we can give ourselves at Christmas is relationships.  Yet, with the hustle and bustle of decorating, baking, shopping and wrapping, it is easy to clutter up relationships with things that are really less important in the long run.  And, it’s easier said-than-done to not be overwhelmed with time or cluttered with shopping lists.  So, here are a few tips Kathi Lipp shared with us about organizing priorities and duties, so relationships don’t get thrown out with the wrapping paper.

Be coordinated.

The earlier you can make plans with your family and friends, the easier it will be to avoid conflicts and expectations.  Maybe set up a Google Hangout and ask everyone you invite to install the app on their phone.  This is a simple, yet effective, way to stay organized within a group of people.

It’s not the time to be picky.

Even if you could, what would be the pleasure in pulling off the perfect holiday all by yourself? Let others who ask, help.  And, be sure to ask those who don’t, to help – they may just not know what to ask!  Make to-do lists and post them so everyone can feel accomplished for crossing things off the list.

Don’t be limit timid.

Be sure to set limits for yourself and with others.  Come to an understanding how much you will spend on family gifts or how many gifts you may be expected to share.   Maybe share a list of who is bringing what to Christmas dinner – communication makes for great organization.

Use a pen.

Be sure to write it down… write down what you spending budget for the holidays is, gift ideas, party dates, etc.  Not only will keeping everything visible help you stay organized and bring peace to you, if you use a Holiday Planner, next year you’ll be able to look back and find yourself doing less hustling and bustling!
