Before and After – Our Latest Garage Makeover

Here is another wonderful transformation by Come To Order. This two car garage could barley fit one car what with all of the camping gear, tools, and miscellaneous “garage things”. The home owners asked Come To Order to organize the garage in such a way that they could not only fit two cars, but so that it could also house the riding lawn mower which was kept under a tarp in the backyard.

Here’s where we started:

To install shelves, hooks, and baskets, we used the Rubbermaid FastTrack Rail system. The backbone of the FastTrack system are the rails, which mount to your garage walls in only a few minutes. Their heavy steel construction provides extra durability, and they hold up to 1,750 lbs. There are a wide range of accessories, including hooks, shelves, baskets, and racks, that easily attach to the rail to create a customized garage storage system that can change to meet your storage needs. Great for hand tools, gardening tools, rakes and shovels, bikes, hoses, sports equipment, and so much more!

Three bikes now hang from the ceiling using the Racor PBH-1R Ceiling-Mounted Bike Lift. This system is a terrific way to use unused space with ease and safety. The ingenious design lightens the load to make for easy lifting, and the unique rope locking mechanism prevents accidental release.

We also used the Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift 4-by-4-Foot Cable-Lifted Storage Rack to store holiday and outdoor items off the floor. This system helps you load and lift heavy items to the ceiling without using a ladder.

This transformation took place over 4 days. It took one day to sort out the garage and determine what was going to be kept, trashed and donated. We spent two days installing the garage systems. The Rubbermaid Fast Track system and the Bike Lifts went up relatively quickly, but the Heavy Lift took about 2 hours per unit to build and install. On the fourth day, we decided what would now be stored in the garage and organized it accordingly.

The end result is that the family is able to store their riding lawn mower in the garage (it was previously under a tarp in the back yard) and, by bringing holiday items into the garage for storage, they now have a cleaner attic as well. Best of all, they can park two cars in the garage and still have room to get in and out of them.

Lots of work, but the incredible results are well worth it!
