The Clash of Conflicts
As your children grow and learn from life’s conflicts, as parents, we have the best opportunity to share and show them the powerful skills needed to handle disagreements and conflicts and turn them into win-win situations. Because all relationships experience conflict, learning how to maintain friendships despite friction will make life much more enjoyable. Lacking these skills, will make for a life filled with broken relationships and possibly divorce. So, here are a few tips from Love & Logic to give your kids the skills they deserve now, for a lifetime of productive relationships:
- Remember that children learn the most about relationships by observing how we handle ours.
- Don’t make the mistake of trying to create a conflict-free family. That is stressful and unrealistic.
- Have some healthy disagreements or conflicts in front of your kids.
- Use the lingo of problem-solving and compromise like, “How can we solve this problem?”
- Use commonsense about what you discuss in front of your kids.
Get started with Love & Logic today… you’ll be able to enjoy happier and more responsible kids tomorrow! Are you anticipating a new year of holidays? Consider making a family mission statement… relationships begin at home.
